Tanzania - Managing Malaria

Malaria remains the number one killer of pregnant women and children under five along this Southern coast of Tanzania, and the disease remains widespread across Africa. The World Health Organization’s Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) is working to increase research, education, and awareness of this treatable disease. Yet the small number of treatment centres and lack of local knowledge mean mortality rates remain high. NOTE: Images copyright protected. Contact Jamie Guth (guthj@who.int) for further information.
